New Porgera Limited (NPL), operator of the Porgera Gold Mine, is seeking a qualified and experienced Geologist – Resource Development to join its Mineral Resources Department. NPL is committed to responsible mining, community partnership, safety, and sustainable development.
The Role
Reporting to the Senior Resource Geologist, the successful applicant will play a key role in advancing NPL’s mineral resource understanding through the design and execution of exploration and resource definition programs. The position works closely with exploration, mine geology and resource geology teams to support robust geological modelling and long-term resource growth.

Key Responsibilities
- Plan and manage resource definition drilling programs (RC, diamond, aircore, etc.)
- Oversee geological logging, sampling and high-quality data collection
- Interpret geological and assay data to refine models and mineralization controls
- Work with database teams to maintain accurate and reliable geological information
- Contribute to 3D geological modelling and resource estimation
- Collaborate with exploration teams to identify and rank new target areas
- Prepare technical reports, resource updates, cross-sections and long sections
- Ensure drilling, sampling and QAQC procedures meet industry and company standards
- Support compliance with regulatory reporting requirements
- Promote strong safety, environmental and operational standards
About You
Applicants should possess:
- Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Geoscience or related field
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in resource development, exploration or mine geology
- Proficiency in geological/modelling software (Leapfrog, Micromine, Datamine, etc.)
- Solid understanding of drilling methods, QAQC and geological interpretation
- Strong analytical, communication and technical reporting skills
- A proactive, safety-focused work ethic
Mobilization Requirements
This is a PNG National, site-based FIFO role with a 21/14 rotation.
- Shortlisted candidates must:
- Pass a pre-employment medical and drug/alcohol screening
- Provide a valid Police Clearance Certificate (issued within the last 6 months)
- Be available for immediate commencement
