Minister Paita disclosed that the Mineral Resource Authority (MRA), in partnership with his ministry, will set up a dedicated taskforce. The team’s role will be to identify, monitor, and shut down illegal mining activities in these areas.
The government’s stance, according to Paita, reflects its commitment to protecting the lawful mining industry and the environment from harm caused by unregulated operators. Small-scale miners have been urged to ensure they are properly registered to avoid legal consequences and disruption.
