Mobil Oil PNG Reinforces Supply Chain with Upgraded Terminals Across the Nation

In a significant move to bolster its operations in Papua New Guinea, Mobil Oil New Guinea, a subsidiary of ExxonMobil Corporation, has officially commissioned a cutting-edge facility at its Lae terminal. This development marks a key milestone in the company’s ongoing K40 million investment initiative aimed at meeting the growing demand for quality fuel across the region. The newly upgraded infrastructure underscores Mobil Oil New Guinea’s dedication to serving customers not only in Lae but also in the Highlands and Madang.

According to Dinesh Sivasamboo, chairman and managing director of ExxonMobil PNG Limited, the upgraded Lae terminal is now fully operational and represents a major leap forward in efficiency. A standout feature of the upgrade is the installation of a bottom-loading facility, which complements the existing top-loading rack. This dual system accelerates the fuel-loading process, significantly reducing truck turnaround times and ensuring faster deliveries to customers. “The enhancement drastically cuts down on loading times, enabling us to dispatch more trucks daily,” Sivasamboo explained. “This translates into improved availability of our high-quality fuel products for our valued customers.” The Lae terminal upgrade follows another substantial investment earlier this year, which expanded fuel storage capacity at the Idubada terminal in Port Moresby. Together, these initiatives reflect Mobil Oil New Guinea’s strategic focus on strengthening its supply chain to meet increasing energy demands nationwide.

With over a century of presence in the country, Mobil Oil New Guinea has consistently demonstrated its commitment to supporting Papua New Guinea’s growth and development. Through its network of terminals, branded retail service stations, and wholesale partnerships, the company has played an integral role in powering industries and communities across the nation. The recent upgrades to its Lae facilities, including a revamped retail service station, are part of this enduring legacy. Sivasamboo emphasized that Mobil Oil New Guinea remains deeply rooted in the country while leveraging ExxonMobil’s global expertise. “We are proud to be a PNG company with access to ExxonMobil’s unmatched capabilities,” he said. “Our mission is to continue finding innovative ways to grow our business and contribute to fuel stability in Papua New Guinea.”

As Papua New Guinea navigates its path toward economic progress, Mobil Oil New Guinea reaffirms its position as a reliable partner for the nation’s energy needs. With advanced infrastructure, a customer-centric approach, and a steadfast commitment to excellence, the company is poised to remain the country’s most trusted fuel supplier for decades to come. Whether through modernized terminals or enhanced service offerings, Mobil Oil New Guinea continues to invest in solutions that drive prosperity and support the aspirations of the people it serves.
