Mark Stone Appointed Chairman of PNG’s Ok Tedi Mining Limited
Port Moresby, PNG – Ok Tedi Mining Limited (OTML) has announced the immediate appointment of Mark Stone as its new Board Chairman, following approval from the company’s Board of Directors.
The announcement was made by Dr. Ila Temu, who serves as both the Board Chairman of Kumul Minerals Holdings Limited (KMHL) and a Director on the OTML Board. Dr. Temu highlighted Stone’s extensive expertise, noting his over three decades of experience in the global mining sector.

Mark Stone brings a wealth of knowledge from his leadership roles in major mining companies, including BHP, MMG, First Quantum, and, most recently, Ok Tedi Mining Limited. His career spans operations in Australia, Papua New Guinea, Africa, and the Americas, with a focus on commodities such as coal, copper, gold, silver, and manganese. Stone’s experience as a key member of executive leadership teams has equipped him with a deep understanding of the strategies that drive success in the mining industry.
A graduate of the University of Newcastle, Australia, Stone holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree with a major in organizational development. He is also a member of the Australian Human Resources Institute and the Australasian Institute of Mining & Metallurgy.
Dr. Temu emphasized Stone’s commitment to strong governance, clear vision, and empowering teams to achieve exceptional outcomes. “Mark’s passion for delivering value to stakeholders and fostering accountability makes him an ideal fit for this role,” she stated.
