K92 Mining in PNG Welcomes 30 New Trainees as Part of Stage 3 Expansion

K92 Mining has announced the recruitment of 30 new trainee process plant operators under its Stage 3 Expansion project, aiming to boost local workforce development in Papua New Guinea’s mining sector. The intake includes recent graduates in Metallurgy and Mining Engineering from partner universities, alongside candidates from local communities who successfully completed the company’s 2024 pre-vocational program.

To ensure the new recruits are equipped with the necessary expertise, K92 Mining has introduced a structured six-month training program. The program features a buddy system that pairs each trainee with an experienced operator, facilitating hands-on mentorship and the seamless transfer of industry knowledge.

Chief Executive Officer and Director of K92 Mining, John Lewins, said the development of a skilled local workforce is a key pillar of the company’s expansion strategy. “We are proud to provide opportunities for recent graduates and local workers to build their careers in mining. Through structured training and mentorship, we are not only preparing them for success but also strengthening the long-term sustainability of our operations in Papua New Guinea,” Lewins stated.

The company emphasized that this initiative reflects its broader commitment to sustainable growth, professional development, and meaningful engagement with local communities. K92 Mining continues to prioritize employment pathways and skills development to support both its operational needs and community empowerment efforts.
