K92 Mining Inc., the operator of the Kainantu Gold Mine in Eastern Highlands Province, Papua New Guinea, is delighted to announce the commencement of its first-ever K92 Pre-Vocational Program with the enrollment of 10 participants.
The K92 Pre-Vocational Program spans 12 months and is designed to concentrate on trade-specific skill development. It provides participants with valuable real-world experience in disciplines such as electrical work, auto-electrics, mechanics, and boiler making.
This year's participants come from the Bilimoia, Pomasi, Unantu, and Watarais communities, showcasing K92's commitment to engaging local talent.
The program kicks off with a comprehensive induction and orientation, emphasizing the importance of upholding stringent safety standards, particularly in a mining environment. Each participant is assigned a mentor from K92, ensuring they receive adequate instruction, support, and guidance throughout the program.
Upon successful completion, participants have various paths forward, including potential placement in K92's 4-year Apprentice Program, joining the K92 team as a Trades Assistant, or utilizing their newfound skills for employment outside of K92.
Underlining its dedication to the prosperity and sustainable development of Papua New Guinea and local communities, K92 is proud to invest in education and skills development initiatives. John Lewins, Chief Executive Officer and Director of K92 Mining Inc., expressed his enthusiasm for the program, stating, 'We strongly believe in the power of education and training to transform lives and create a brighter future. The K92 Pre-Vocational Program is one of several initiatives aimed at developing local talent and driving sustainable development in Papua New Guinea.'"
