Foreign Investors must comply with PNG's Mining & Petroleum Requirements : PM Marape

Prime Minister James Marape says Papua New Guinea is governed by a constitution and there are laws that regulate mining and exploration activities.

Mr. Marape highlighted this, reminding foreign investors to comply with all the necessary mining and petroleum requirements

The Prime Minister uttered this while making reference to the proposed Twinza and Pasca gas projects.

He says some of the requirements of the exploration and mining licenses were not met by the investors to proceed with the project.

Marape however says the department of Petroleum has done its bit to address the issue which only needs a review by the national government.

The Prime Minister says the government wants to tick off Pogera, Papua LNG, P’nyang, and Pasca LNG including the Wafi Golpu projects soon.

Mr. Marape was not able to provide the actual commencement dates but says he is determined to provide a firm statement on these proposed multi-billion projects five months from now.
