SUPERINTENDENT GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEERING

Reporting to the Manager Mine Technical Services, you will be responsible for geotechnical and hydrogeological support to the Ok Tedi Mining Operations through ensuring specific functional sections are providing the necessary services to the mine efficiently and to the highest standards.


Your role will involve:


  • Management of all geotechnical and hydrogeological safety related risks through designs, routine monitoring and communication to the Mine’s operational departments and Registered Mine Manager;
  • Optimisation of pit slopes angles to minimise loss of reserves;
  • Designing and managing the removal of surface and ground water through surface drains and underground drainage system beneath existing pit workings;
  • Overseeing the development of a site wide holistic surface water management plans;
  • Developing and reviewing procedures to manage geotechnical risk;
  • Ensuring accurate and timely reporting.

 

To be considered, you must possess:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering or related discipline;
  • 15+ years of experience in a similar environment;
  • Clear knowledge and understanding of the PNG Mining (Safety) Act and Regulations;
  • In-depth knowledge of Open Pit Mine Operations and slope design;
  • Experience in managing all aspects of geotechnical, hydrogeological and hydrological issues;
  • Analytical, strategic and conceptual thinking skills with the ability to research and analyse complex information, identify risks and opportunities and plan and develop remedial and practical solutions;
  • Understanding of cultural diversity and project delivery through a multicultural team; and
  • Excellent team player attributes with a high level of communication articulation, strong attention to detail, be highly organised and committed to excellence in safety.

 

This is an even time FIFO role with an option to elect for Residential status and relocate family to site.
