St Barbara is an Australian based ASX listed gold producer and explorer. St Barbara's assets include one of Australia's deepest underground mines at its Leonora Operations in Western Australia, the Simberi Operations in Papua New Guinea, and the Atlantic Gold Operations in Nova Scotia, Canada.


St Barbara Limited is currently seeking an experienced change specialist to support our transformation journey. You will join our highly engaged and dynamic workforce within our Simberi Operations in PNG on a FIFO basis.


The Role

Reporting to the Site Transformation Lead at Simberi, this position will lead deployment of improvement initiatives and create an environment that promotes continuous improvement, increases consistency, reduces pain points and empowers workers to enhance the value of the operation. Key Accountabilities

  • Ensuring and monitoring safety in the workplace by identifying and addressing hazards, participating in improving safety and ensuring all reporting requirements are completed.
  • Supporting the Site Transformation Lead in setting up the projects and maintaining momentum to project completion.
  • Cultivating buy-in across the site at all levels of the operation including contractors.
  • Planning and assisting the site team to achieve project goals.
  • Assisting to set and refine target metrics in consultation with key stakeholders.
  • Coordinating a comprehensive site project plan.
  • Reviewing progress of project initiatives and monitoring achievement of key milestones.
  • Undertaking coaching of Initiative Owners to ensure the timely completion of major milestones.
  • Overseeing specialised needs based training to assist and empower workers to participate in continuous improvement.
  • Preparing periodic reports for the site project team providing project status and updates.
  • Contributing as an active member of the site transformation team. 

About You

Essential

  • Behaviour consistent with St Barbara’s Values;
  • Considerable experience in business improvement concepts and strategies utilising business improvement tools such as LEAN/ 6 Sigma;
  • Excellent interpersonal, influencing and communication skills;
  • Demonstrated ability to influence change and influence leaders;
  • Tertiary qualification in related discipline or similar experience;
  • Advanced change and project management including methodology, practices and techniques.
  • Highly developed planning, analytical and problem solving skills; and
  • Strong ability to lead and work effectively with people.

Mining Business Improvement experience will be highly regarded; and

Recognised coaching and mentoring skills

Simberi Gold Company Ltd offers a competitive remuneration package, commensurate with experience.

This opportunity is a FIFO position normally working a 21 days on, 14 days off roster. In the world of COVID-19, we have introduced a 7 day onsite quarantine periods making it 28 days on/14 day off rotation.
