Papua New Guinea PM Marape Warns Mining Companies in PNG

Papua New Guinea Prime Minister James Marape has warned major mines in the country to comply with mines safety and operating standards.

Mr Marape issued the warning while making reference to the closure of the multi-billion Kina Ramu Nickel mine.

Marape told NBC National News today that the shutdown will only be temporary pending further investigations on the recent slurry spill.

He said the company executives will meet with the government to find an amicable solution forward..
