A revised Papua New Guinea Mining Act and an Autonomous Government Organic Law drafted by a Committee of the New Ireland and East New Britain Governments will be presented to the Prime Minister, James Marape by the New Ireland Governor, Sir. Julius Chan.
Former Gazellle MP and now businessman, Sinai Brown said the joint New Ireland and East New Britain Working Committee have been working for two weeks to come up with the draft.

Chief Brown said the Draft Mining Act proposes sweeping changes to how mining will be done in PNG.

One of the changes is to give more powers to resources owners.

He expressed delight that the two draft legislations have been handed to Sir. Julius Chan to hand over to the Prime Minister.

Brown added there was a dialogue with former Prime Minister, Peter O'Neill that there will be no interference by the National Government if the two laws are passed.
