PNG's WESTERN PROVINCE GOVERNOR ELK AND ANTELOPE PROJECTS TO START SOON

Gulf Governor, Havila Kavo, wants the Elk and Antelope Projects in the Gulf Province to start soon. He has called on Inter Oil to announce a developer to take on the projects.

These projects are of economic benefit to the people of Gulf and must not be delayed. The outlook of the projects look bright and inter Oil is confident of delivering the project on time.

The Elk and Antelope gas fields in the Gulf Province represent the second LNG project. While the size of the gas reserves is not proven, it could be 10 trillion cubic feet, giving potential annual export capacity of 8.8 m tonnes of LNG over 15 years.

Earlier, Inter Oil entered into exclusive negotiations with Exxon Mobil to develop the project. However, it is still at a negotiation stage without a confirmed developer of the project being announced by Inter Oil.

Newly-appointed Chief Executive Officer of Inter Oil, Michael Hession, stopped short of revealing details of the developer but says Inter Oil is committed to the project.
