Ok Tedi Development Foundation (OTDF) 2027 Maritime Cadet Scholarship Program

The Ok Tedi Development Foundation (OTDF) is inviting applications for its 2027 Maritime Cadet Scholarship Program, delivered in partnership with PNG Maritime College and P&O Services (PNG) Ltd.

Established in 2013, the program aims to provide aspiring seafarers from Western Province with professional maritime education, practical sea-going experience, and career opportunities in the maritime industry.

Scholarship Opportunities

For the 2027 intake, OTDF is offering four (4) scholarship positions:

• 2 Engine Cadets
• 2 Deck Cadets

Eligibility

Applicants must be from:

Community Mine Continuation Agreement (CMCA) regions;

• Preferred Area Development (PAD) areas; or
• Non-CMCA/Non-PAD areas within Western Province.

Engine Cadet Requirements

Applicants must:

• Have successfully completed Grade 12 or the FODE/DODL program between 2019 and 2025.
• Hold a Certificate or Diploma qualification.
• Have achieved Grade C or higher in English, Mathematics A, Chemistry and Physics, with a minimum GPA of 2.5.

Be medically fit.

• Possess a current Police Clearance Certificate and demonstrate good community behaviour.
• Deck Cadet Requirements

Applicants must:

• Have successfully completed Grade 12 or the FODE/DODL program between 2019 and 2025.
• Hold a Certificate or Diploma qualification.
• Have achieved Grade C or higher in English, Mathematics A/B, Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Geography and History, with a minimum GPA of 2.5.
• Be medically fit.
• Possess a current Police Clearance Certificate and demonstrate good community behaviour.

Required Documents

• Applicants must submit copies of:
• Educational qualifications
• Current certified medical report from a recognised hospital
• Current Police Clearance Certificate
• Birth Certificate and National Identification (NID) card
• Three (3) character references
• Completed and signed OTDF Maritime Scholarship Application Form

Important Notes

• Applicants with only a Grade 10 qualification are not eligible.
• Only new students entering the maritime field will be considered.
• Female applicants are strongly encouraged to apply.
