About the Company

PanAust Limited is an Australian-headquartered copper and gold mining company with operations in Laos and development projects in Papua New Guinea and Chile.

In Papua New Guinea, the company owns 100% of the Frieda River Copper-Gold Project, a large-scale mining, renewable energy, and infrastructure development initiative. The project is expected to contribute significantly to national development while creating employment and business opportunities for local communities in the Sepik region.

The Role

We are seeking an experienced Procurement Officer to join the Operations Team on a 6-month fixed-term contract supporting the Frieda River Drill Program.

The role reports to the Project Manager and is responsible for managing procurement, purchasing, inventory, and financial processes to ensure efficient supply of goods and services in a remote mining environment.

Key Responsibilities

Procurement and Purchasing

  • Process purchase requisitions and ensure proper approvals
  • Source quotations from suppliers and evaluate best value
  • Create and manage Purchase Orders (POs) in SAP
  • Track deliveries and follow up on delayed orders
  • Liaise with suppliers on delivery schedules and changes
  • Handle returns, credits, and procurement updates
  • Ensure compliance with company procurement policies

Inventory and Stock Control

  • Monitor stock levels and critical supplies
  • Conduct stocktakes and maintain accurate inventory records
  • Replenish low or essential stock items
  • Coordinate with logistics and site teams
  • Reconcile physical stock with system records

Accounts and Financial Support

  • Process supplier invoices using three-way matching
  • Resolve invoice discrepancies with suppliers
  • Maintain petty cash records
  • Assist with financial reporting and reconciliation

Administrative Support

  • Maintain procurement and financial documentation
  • Prepare inventory and expenditure reports
  • Support audits and compliance reviews

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, or related field
  • 3–5+ years’ experience in procurement or supply chain roles
  • Experience using SAP or similar ERP systems
  • Strong supplier coordination and negotiation skills
  • Inventory and stock management experience
  • Experience in remote or mining environments preferred
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
