Job Description

Based in Kiunga, you will be responsible for the effective and safe management and implementation of Community Relations and Government Liaison Programs. Your primary focus will be on community engagement within the South Fly region and maintaining strong liaison with the Fly River Provincial Government (FRPG) at the Provincial Headquarters.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a primary liaison between OTML and key government agencies and regulatory bodies.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with government officials to advocate for OTML’s interests in policy discussions and regulatory matters.
  • Ensure OTML complies with all relevant government regulations, policies, and legislative requirements, including obtaining necessary permits and approvals.
  • Develop and maintain a stakeholder management system to track government engagements, commitments, and compliance requirements.
  • Prepare reports and updates for management on government relations, policy changes, and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications and Experience

To be considered, you must possess the following:

  • A Tertiary level qualification in Public Administration, Political Science, Land Administration, Law, Business, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in government relations, stakeholder engagement, regulatory affairs, or external relations, preferably in the mining or natural resources sector.
  • Strong knowledge of government structures, land administration, and regulatory frameworks in Papua New Guinea.
  • Experience in stakeholder management software or digital engagement tools is an advantage.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Willingness to travel for government and stakeholders’ engagements.
  • Skilled in using MS Office applications, with expertise in Excel, Project, Word, PowerPoint, Access, Publisher, and Outlook.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills and can effectively communicate at different levels.
