Barrick Niugini Ltd is seeking a skilled and experienced Open Pit Mining Engineer to join their team. Reporting to the Senior Open Pit Mining Engineer, you will play a crucial role in the application of Open Pit production and drill & blast mine engineering systems to achieve strategic planning objectives.
Key Requirements:
- Tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering
- Experience in mine production planning and drill & blast engineering within a large Open Pit environment
- Proficiency in Open Pit mining technology and heavy production equipment
- Advanced skills in mine planning software (preferably Deswik) and production databases
- Proficient in computer applications including integrated management systems, word processing, presentation, and spreadsheet applications
- Excellent communication skills
- In-depth understanding of relevant legislation affecting employment and safety in the mining industry in PNG
- Demonstrated application of continuous improvement ideas
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop practical, efficient, and safe production plans aligned with strategic objectives
- Communicate plans effectively to stakeholders to ensure compliance
- Assist in monitoring production performance to ensure alignment with plans
- Collaborate with the Senior Engineer to prepare pit designs for stability and economic extraction
- Maintain pit designs in mine planning and mapping databases
- Record and update production results and reconciliations in the production database
- Establish and maintain targets for optimized ore extraction and reduced ore body dilution
- Manage waste rock effectively, working closely with the Environment team
- Uphold high levels of health, safety, and environmental awareness, adhering to all relevant Barrick Niugini Ltd policies & procedures
Mobilization Requirement:
- This position is open to PNG Citizens only
- FIFO rotation: 28 days on and 14 days off
- Up-to-date Police clearance Certificate required (acquired within the last 6 months)
