Papua LNG will boost job growth in PNG , official says

THE Papua LNG project will provide a significant jobs boost for Papua New Guineans and businesses, an official says.

TotalEnergies EP (exploration and production) PNG managing director Jean-Marc Noiray said, during a Port Moresby Chamber of Commerce and Industry event in Port Moresby yesterday, that local content was among the company’s priorities.

The chamber and TotalEnergies also hosted a works and infrastructure project information session where the Supplier Management and the WAN PNG Portals were launched.

The Supplier Management Portal (SMP) is targeted at small-to-medium enterprises (SMEs), potential Papua LNG local suppliers and other business organisations.

“It will be used by engineering, procurement and construction contractors and their subcontractors to identify suppliers to foster business development,” Noiray said. “The WAN PNG portal on the other hand is aimed at all Papua New Guineans – from school leavers to young adults to help them find relevant skills training, job openings and skills mapping.

“The Papua LNG project is committed to the development of the national work force, enabling Papua New Guineans to gain experience in their trade and also to identify upskilling requirements.”
