Mining Job : Senior Engineer - Open Pit Mine

 The Porgera Joint Venture in Papua New Guinea is looking for a Senior Engineer – Projects - Open Pit

Position Objective

Reporting to the Superintendent – Projects – Mine Technical Site Projects, the Engineer, Senior – Projects – Open Pit will assist oversee and coordinate efforts of the Mining Engineers, Consultants and the Project Team in optimising PJV Mining Projects from Care and Maintenance through to the Start-Up phase to return the maximum value to the stakeholders ensuring a holistic approach to budget costs and expenditure controls and compliance to safety and environmental policy.

MininG Job : Senior Engineer  - Open Pit Mine 

The ideal candidate must possess:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mining Engineering or related field in a recognised tertiary institution
• 8+ years’ experience in open pit metalliferous mines at a supervisory or project manager level
• 5 + years project and contractor management experience
• Member of Institute of Engineers of PNG, or qualifications/ ability to obtain membership
• Proficient level in the use of mine planning software and mine design experience (e.g. Deswik Cad, MS Projects etc.)
• Contractor management system/knowledge - preferred
• Project Management Skills - preferred
• Bulk earthworks/mining exposure – preferred
• Proven mine engineering experience and a self-started
• Aware and has the ability to utilise continuous improvement initiatives and processes
• Well-developed verbal and written communication skills, leadership and technical skills

Key Responsibilities:

• Coordinate and optimise underground and open pit productivity improvement and cost reduction projects, from inception to implementation
• Manage consultants on various feasibility studies
• Provide detailed financial analyses of various continuous improvement projects
• Develop, analyse and report on Production Process Improvement studies
• Coordinate the implementation of Business Performance Management Projects
• Deliver capital expansion/replacement studies
• Assist in the development of the PJV Strategic Business Plan
• Develop and monitor the Mine Department tactical plan
• Manage Contractors in the performance of agreed works and ensure Contractor meets all contractual terms including safety, health and environment responsibilities relating to their employees
• Maintain a high level of health, safety and environmental awareness and comply with the PJV Occupational Health, Safety and Environment Policy and Rules and Procedures.
