SUPERINTENDENT OHS & TRAINING

Based in Tabubil and reporting to the Deputy General Manager - Processing, you will be responsible for upholding The Ok Tedi Values and contributing to achieve the OTML strategic objectives in workplace health, safety and zero harm. This involves managing all facets of risks, occupational health, employee wellness and safety.


Your role will involve:


  • Facilitating an ongoing improvement process in the application, maintenance and use of a structured Risk Management and Behavioural Science through the OTML organisation;
  • Making sure that Processing Business Unit risk matrix up, to date, widely known and ensure control measures being implemented are effective to manage these risks;
  • Ensuring all personnel associated with the OHS&T Department understand the environmental responsibilities;
  • Ensuring trainers are competent and focused on high performance levels by setting targets, monitoring performance, providing training and development and feedback on performance, encouraging continuous performance improvements;Developing & reviewing existing policies and procedures on an annual basis and/or based on specific business needs; and
  • Ensuring the OTML management team is kept updated on business critical daily / weekly / monthly OHS and health & wellness issues.

 

To be considered, you must possess the following:

  • Relevant Tertiary qualification in OH&S;
  • 3-5 years relevant experience in mining industry with good understanding of the PNG Mining Act & regulations;
  • Excellent understanding in developing OH&S strategies;
  • Strong analytical skills and accurate business judgement;
  • Proven track record of working successfully in a multi-cultural environment; and
  • Excellent communication skills, interpersonal skills, and high attention to detail.
