HID6577 - GRADUATE GEOLOGIST
Harmony Gold are seeking to recruit a Graduate Geologist, for our MTS – Geology Department. Reporting to the Mine Geologist, the successful applicant will mainly be responsible to undertake mine geology tasks in accordance with all statutory requirements and Company Safety, Health and Environment standards and procedures at Hidden Valley Mine and will assist in the provision of quality mine geology services to maximize resource recovery and minimize loss and dilution at the Hidden Valley Mine.
Key roles and responsibilities include:
- Actively participate in and promote a safe, healthy and productive work culture
- Assist in daily blending of ROM stockpiles to achieve planned mill feed grade targets
- Assist in supervision of grade control drilling and sampling programs
- Assist in supervision of grade control ore markups and ore mining operations
- Complete core and chip logging of resource definition, geotechnical and Geo-metallurgical drilling programs
- Conduct regular pit mapping to update geological models
- Monitor and conduct safety inspections of drilling contractors to ensure compliance with site safety standards and procedures
- Compilation and dispatch of drilling and field samples to relevant laboratories for analysis
- Ensure the quality of grade control drillhole data and QAQC standards are met for all grade control and blashole samples
Qualifications, Skills and Experience required:
- Have Tertiary qualification in Geology
- Possessed relevant Geological Experience and experience in Open Pit Mining environment is an advantage
- Strong attention to detail, problem solving and analytical skills
- Effective communication skills both verbally and written in English and Tok Pisin
- High level user of Microsoft Office – Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook and Teams
- Strong safety focus
- Hold current PNG’s Licence Class 6
- Show Willingness to learn and good character
