Job: Senior Mine Geologist with OK Tedi Mine, PNG

SENIOR MINE GEOLOGIST

Reference: 20002756

Based in Tabubil and reporting to the Superintendent – Mine Geology, you will be responsible on a daily basis for Ore Control and various Mining Geology duties.

Your role will involve:

  • Coordinating collection of samples for grade definition and metallurgical test-work;
  • Coordinate daily & weekly ore mining & blending & be involved in the daily & weekly mine production discussion plans.
  • Responsible for data validation (assays, surveys, lithology) and construction of accurately defined Ore and Waste mining blocks;
  • Ensure that daily data is reported accurately and ongoing monitoring of mining block grades and metallurgical characteristics;
  • Develop and manage procedures and systems to allow the timely and accurate collection of geological information to optimise metal extraction;
  • Coach and mentor junior team members to ensure the delivery of geological services of the highest standard;
  • Supervision of the Team during Superintendent absence as required.
  • Any other duties as required.

 

To be considered, you must possess the following:

  • Degree in Geology or related discipline;
  • 5+ years Mine Geology experience;
  • Substantial experience and knowledge in safety, health & wellness, Geology operations, planning and development;
  • Clear knowledge and understanding and experience of the sampling principles and QA/QC;
  • Demonstrated experience and a sound understanding of Geology Principles;
  • Experience using geology related software; MineSight, Acquire, Vulcan etc.
  • A demonstrated commitment to a strong safety culture and safe work practices;
  • Proven track record of working successfully in a multi-cultural environment; and
  • Excellent communication skills, interpersonal skills, high attention to detail and team-oriented approach.
