The Role
Reporting to the Maintenance Superintendent, the incumbent is responsible for coordinating the activities of the maintenance section of the site buildings and infrastructure with primary focus on safety, environment, development, and production by ensuring that there is preventative, predictive, and reliability maintenance of site facilities.
This is a FIFO position on 6 weeks on, 2 weeks off roster (the roster will be amended during the operational phase of the project). Preferred Points of Hire are Woodlark, Alotau, Port Moresby, Lae and Mt Hagen.
Please note that a preemployment requirement for this role is to provide proof of COVID 19 vaccination.
Key roles and responsibilities include
- Ensuring own Health & Safety as well as that of all other workers, identifying and maintaining safe work practices and completing all required safety training.
- Ensure staff resources are maximised and staff members undertake appropriate training and development, so they are skilled efficiently to perform allocated duties.
- Overview, provide direction and act as a technical reference point and mentor for staff while ensuring work outputs are in line with strategic and business plans.
- Be responsible for implementing and ongoing monitoring of performance and development review plans for all direct reports.
- Promote and adhere to Occupational Health and Safety Policy and Procedures through consistently demonstrating and encouraging safe work practices
Qualifications, Skills and Experience required
- Building Trade Qualification
- At least 5 years relevant experience managing facility Maintenance
- Experience with upgrading, maintaining, or repairing camp buildings and Infrastructure.
- Supervision and direction of employees and contractors and should know how to analyse existing methods and implement improvements.
- Understand relevant engineering standards and associated procedures
- Have managerial experience, training and experience and promote a safe work ethic.
- Computer literacy
- Desirable
- Previous experience working in a remote location;
- The ability to work shift work and respond to calls.
- Senior First Aid.
