Islands Petroleum is an independently owned fuel and lubes distributor, and the exclusive distributor for Mobil lubricants in Papua New Guinea. With the head office based in Kokopo, Islands Petroleum also operates bulk fuel depots in Rabaul, Kimbe, Konebada, Kavieng, Alotau, Popondetta/ Orobay and Mt. Hagen as well as lubes and fuel distribution warehouses in Lae, Port Moresby and Madang.
We are seeking for qualified individuals to fill-in the position of a Trainee Graduate Engineer at our Engineering Department in Lae Morobe Province. Reporting to the Senior Engineer, the Trainee Graduate Engineer will be introduced to engineering principles, procedures, and best practices applicable to the fuels industry and be expected to competently implement them in real life work scenarios.
The Role and Responsibilities
Support Project Engineers in developing, scoping, and costing of new capital, maintenance, and retail projects.
Support depot operations and clients with maintenance programs, troubleshoot equipment failures and propose engineering solutions
Able to showcase engineering skills on basic principles, easily cultivate and learn professional behaviour and mannerisms under the supervision of the Project/Senior Engineer.
Actively propose and make engineering decisions with the consent of the Project / Senior Engineer
Able to compile engineering budgets, revise procedures in achieving the company’s goals and objectives.
Other duties as assigned by the delegated Engineering Supervisor
Requirements
A minimum Engineering Degree preferably Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from a recognised Technical University.
Must be a quick observer and able to learn new things on the go in a fast-paced operational work environment.
Adapt in technology advancement and other engineering aspects, able to work in team, proficient in mathematics and analytical subjects.
Can understand complex scenarios and decode them with ease.
The ideal candidate must have sober habits, good punctuality, good interpersonal skills, have strong attention to detail and able to work under pressure to meet deadlines. Other essential requirements are good time management and computer skills.
