OK Tedi Mine commits K20 million to PNG Government to fight COVID-19

OK Tedi Mining Ltd (OTML) has committed K20 million to help Papua New Guinea curb the escalating Covid-19 cases.

Acting managing director and chief executive officer Kedi Ilimbit made the announcement on Saturday saying OTML’s commitment demonstrated the company’s seriousness in addressing the country’s escalating Covid-19 situation.

Ilimbit said K10 million would be given to the Port Moresby General Hospital and other agencies as determined by the Government while the other K10 million would be used for the procurement, distribution and roll-out of vaccines in Western, with priority given to the OTML workforce, contractors and residents.

“We will be working closely with the Sustainable Development Programme and the Western health authority to implement the Covid-19 vaccine roll-out plan,” Ilimbit said.
