Environment and Conservation Minister Wera Mori said this will be the first for the country.

Mori said the government will start slow in gold bullion which will include refining and smelting of gold.

The Prime Minister said part of the negotiations between the Morobe Provincial Government and the Wafi-Golpu landowners, will include a gold bullion and smelting facility.

''At the back of these conversations, Gold Bullion discussions will grow bigger and Morobe provincial government has put in proposals for a business opportunity in that space.

''We give them every indication of consideration for those business conversations including Gold and Copper smelting venture that will be first of its kind in our country and that is something I can give assurance to,'' said Marape.
