PNG Prime Minister Welcomes Interests from Mining Billionaire Andrew Forrest

 Papua New Guinea Primary Minister James Marape has thanked and welcome the interest of mining billionaire Andrew Forest to invest in the country. ' "Thank you Dr Andrew Forrest and your team from Fortescue Metals Group (FMG) for spending the last 7 days in PNG.


Your plans to bring processing industries into a PNG special economic zone utilizing over 25 000 mega watts of power you want to generate in PNG from our hydro and geothermal sources is welcoming.

It’s a possible investment that will be over $40 billion in as far as capital works is concern and my government looks forward for this partnership with provincial governments and landowners.

We thankyou for your assurance that FMG will invest in PNG. We as a government are on the look out for genuine investors with capacities and markets for produces like FMG.

PNG is not only a place for oil, gas and mining but many more areas of businesses and investments. You compliment our intentions to diversify and broaden our economic base.

Use of other source of clean energy, for industries has been a viable option and I am happy that your team have picked PNG first over 20 other nations to appraise and chose for these line of businesses."
