Aitsi hails key value of mining industry in PNG

THE contribution of the mining sector to national development is important, says Credit Corporation group chief executive Peter Aitsi.
On Tuesday, he addressed a dedication service at the Rev Sione Kami Memorial church in Port Moresby attended by staff of the Department of Mining and Petroleum, Mineral Resource Authority and Port Moresby Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Speaking on behalf of the Port Moresby Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Aitsi praised the contribution of the mining sector to the nation.
“The way that we work together is important in terms of our efforts,” Aitsi said. “As we go through this year, there will be challenges.
“But opportunities like this will help us reflect on our contribution and the purpose of why we are here.”
Mining Minister Johnson Tuke said he planned to unite sections and agencies, and ensure better management of the people’s mineral wealth.
Pastor Andrew Lukale urged the attendees to always have a good attitude towards their work.
Other speakers included the Mineral Policy and Geohazards Management Department Secretary Harry Kore and Mineral Resources Authority managing director Philip Samar.
