Papua New Guinea former Public Enterprise Minister Arthur Somare has been praised by landowner leaders of the PNG LNG project for his role in getting investors to invest in the PNG LNG project.
John Ipidari Angore, the supreme chairman of landowners at the Petroleum Development Licence 8 (PDL8) thanked Somare for the part he played.
He said at a time when investors were looking for other investment opportunities around the world, Somare convinced them to come to Papua New Guinea and invest in its Liquefied Natural Gas project.
“Not many people wanted to invest in Papua New Guinea,” he said.
“They wanted to invest in Africa and elsewhere.
“But I remember reading a story where Somare told the world that there is a place called Papua New Guinea where they can invest in.”
Hela businessman and PNG LNG project landowner Larry Andagali also thanked Somare for recognising Hides gas.
Somare attended a meeting between the beneficiary groups of the Kroton Equity and Kumul Petroleum Holdings in Port Moresby about how LBSA beneficiary can indirectly buy LNG shares. The National
