NEWCREST Mining Ltd says its Concentrator 1 SAG mill at Cadia, New South Wales is operating at full capacity.
The firm said engineers had determined that the mill motor required a full rewind.
The timing of the rewind would be subject to the availability of long lead time parts.
It would be incorporated into the maintenance schedule when considered convenient. Installation of the conveyor to bypass the mill, transporting ore from the high pressure grinding rolls to the ball mill circuit, remain on schedule – to be completed early next month.
Newcrest said this would provide future operating flexibility for the mill.
Stockpiles which have been generated over the last five weeks are expected to be fully processed by the end of the current financial year.
