RAMU NiCo Management (MCC) Ltd says the company is preparing well to host 2015 Emergency Response (ER) challenge in Madang this month.
Event co-ordinator Daniel Round said this year’s challenge would be using available resources in Madang.
“This has been a very exciting time for us to expose the Madang facilities and the town itself and the Ramu Nico project located in the area,” Round said.
“We started planning for this event last year, to make sure everything runs smoothly over the four days.
“The dates are Aug 22 until the 24th, at the Maritime College and Divine Word University (DWU), feel free to come and see the event.”
He said the ER challenge would attract guests from other mines in the country and open up doors for sponsorship within PNG and Australia.
Ramu NiCo would put two teams in again this year, combining KBK mine and Basamuk refinery.
“There are seven different events throughout three days of competition between eight teams and the events are: Theory, fire fighting, vertical rescue, search and rescue, hazmat, endurance and multi causality,” Round said.
He thanked sponsors, including Falck, Scott Safety, Fire Rescue Safety Australia, IPI, Drager, Chubb Fire and Security, Protector Alsafe, Dunlop PNG, Red Earth, Newcastle Rescue, Icom PNG and PWR Australia.
The event was envisaged to serve as a platform to forge closer partnership and interactions among stakeholders.
It is designed to strengthen collaboration and engagement across the resource industry in the area of safety and health.
