Western Drilling Ltd snares drilling job

WESTERN Drilling Ltd has secured its first drilling contract outside Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea.
New Guinea Energy exploration manager Francis Waina said the rig, crew and supporting camp and equipment would be contracted to InterOil for a drilling programme starting first quarter of next year.
The rig was completing commissioning activities at WDL’s yard near Roku, outside Port Moresby.
Related to this, WDL hosted a rig visit at the conclusion of the PNG petroleum seminar on Wednesday.
Participants who were invited on site were told of the capability of the rig and the company’s planned drilling activities.
WDL is the country’s only oil and gas drilling contractor with significant PNG ownership through an incorporated joint venture between New Guinea Energy (50%) and Maps Tuna Ltd (50%).
