South Pacific Games 'Business Potentials'

FOREIGN businesses have started looking into the potential of the multi-million dollar development of facilities for the 2015 South Pacific Games in Port Moresby.
As reported by Cairns Post, Advance Cairns and the Cairns Chamber of Commerce have been working with games organisers to identify the types of goods and services businesses from the region can supply to the games.
Advance Cairns chief executive Mark Mathews said the best way for managers, owners and operators to strike contracts was to work with their counterparts in PNG.
He said there were 6,000 athletes and officials, which made the games bigger than a Commonwealth Games.
Mathews said working with PNG companies would help them get the advantage and could lead to other deals outside and after the games.
A third tender has just been announced with expressions of interest being called to supply transportable washrooms, tents, scaffolding, panel fencing, shipping/sea storage containers, mobile light towers, portable toilets, partition walling systems, curtain walls and generators.
Other tenders have included catering, cleaning and management, which have closed and demolition works associated with the new 15,000-seat Sir John Guise stadium.
