Simberi Gold Mine exceeds target

THE Simberi Gold Mine in New Ireland has produced 110,488 ounces over the 12 months up to March 31 this year – exceeding a target of 100,000 per annum, operator St Barbara says.
In its March quarter production update released last week, the company stated that mineral grade for the quarter averaged 1.35 grams per tonne of gold  (1.35 g/t Au), consistent with the ore reserve grade of 1.3 g/t Au.
The company reported that the areal rope conveyor was out of service for two weeks in January during repairs to the conveyor belt.
“Simberi production guidance for financial year 2016 is maintained at between 100,000 and 110,000 ounces,” it said.
It said its Gwalia mine in Western Australia produced 66,147 ounces bringing the total production to 91,580 in the past 12 months.
“Gwalia returned to higher grade stopes during the quarter and achieved a higher than expected mined grade of 10,2 g/t Au.”
