PNG to hold Seminars on gas, mining

 IMPORTANT seminars on PNG mining and petroleum will be held next week to highlight the unprecedented period of activities and growth in the two resource industries.
The Chamber of Mines and Petroleum will be hosting the seminars on the Dec 3-6 in Port Moresby. 
The petroleum seminar will take place on Dec 3-4 with the theme “Transforming the economy: The gas era” while the mining seminar on Dec 5-6 with the theme “Facing the challenges”.
The conference is an annual event and the venue is rotated between Sydney and Port Moresby. 
The event aimed to update delegates on activities in the mining and petroleum sectors over the past 12 months and to highlight the challenges and achievements. 
According to the chamber, “the petroleum seminar will focus on the PNG LNG project, PNG’s first LNG development, future LNG and other gas projects, recent discoveries and other exploration.
 “The mining seminar will inform delegates on current activities in the PNG mining industry, highlighting project updates, new developments, advanced prospects and exploration. 
“The seminar will also focus on the challenging times facing the PNG mining industry in addressing these changing conditions and significant progress is being made in responding to the new environment.
The chamber said preparation was progressing with about 350 delegates to  attend the seminars. 
Many mining and petroleum companies, service companies, relevant government departments, aid agencies, and high commissions had confirmed their participation.
The four day event will be supported by a trade exhibition.
Twenty-two companies would be showcasing their products and services.
