Morobe gold miners complete training course

ALLUVIAL gold mining can become a successful venture if small-scale miners learn how to manage their business, Small-Scale Mining Training (SSMT) centre manager Al Comparativo said.
Speaking at a recent graduation in the Bulolo district, Morobe, he said this was the last batch of Morobe Mining Joint Venture (MMJV)-sponsored students for the year.
The 12 participants graduated with level two certificates, of which 10 were sponsored by MMJV.
To date, 260 students had already been sent to the school by the company.
Comparativo said: “I congratulate Morobe Mining for this and I know that it would continue to support SSMT centre.
“Next year, we are bringing level two training to selected areas where we consider as alluvial mining hot spots.
“So this year alone is a milestone because we delivered 28 outreach programmes all over PNG, and out of that, we certified 1,640 small scale miners.”
